Rough Gouging Jig

One jig that I’ve been meaning to make since I first used it at school is this:

It’s a jig that holds your plate so you can rough gouge out the inside.  The beauty of this jig is that it also hold the plate up high enough so that you can get your caliper in to measure how thick the plate is without having to un-clamp the plate.  Another bonus of this jig is that it holds even pressure along both top and bottom edges so that you’re less likely to pop open your center joint with too much pressure.
